Ya-Gather with Haiyun Chorus

On April 13th, 2024, Mencius Society for the Arts partnered up with the choir of Haiyun to bring a breathtaking performance to the lower east side community. Haiyun Chorus was established in 1984 by Chong Mao Zhu and ever since has created a reputation of being outstanding. In this occasion, it was lead by the talented Dr. Guo along with Haiyun’s pianist Professor Di Hua Lin. The group opened with the female ensemble performing Hemerocallis Flowers.  A song which emulated the love of mother and daughter. Followed by a male solo, female duets and an all-male ensemble that crossed language barriers singing beautifully in Russian and Chinese. Deep ocean, a Yugoslavian folksong performed by the female duet and Camel on the horizon, Mongolian pop music, numbers which were beautifully executed. The group closed the night with Drizzling in March, surely earning the audience’s heart and applause with the wonderful performance.
